The 2019 Tucson Memorial will mark the 60th event in the history of the Race 4 Eight tour, with the tour spanning 16 states in in first eight+ seasons. The 2019 Tucson Memorial will feature the largest prize purse of the 2019 handball season, with the top R48 Men’s pros, Women Race 4 Eight, and Senior Race 4 Eight (40+) pros vying for one of the sport’s most prestigious prizes.

The Tucson Memorial was designed by local handball players in early 2015 to honor those in our community that have left us, following the mantra: Life is what you celebrate. Every ounce of it. Even it’s End.

“This is not a somber event, instead it’s a celebration of life and the sport we love most… HANDBALL!!!” exclaimed WPH Executive Director Dave Vincent. “This year’s Memorial, the handball community will be celebrating those that helped progress the game; members of our handball community that have passed; past champions and future players of the game with the Tucson Memorial Handball Tournament!”

The 2019 Tucson Memorial R48 Men’s Pro will feature defending R48 Memorial champion, R48 #2 and Tucson Racquet Club member Sean Lenning, the WR48 will feature defending WR48 Memorial champion, WR48 #1 and 18-time WR48 titlist Catriona Casey, while the SR48 will feature defending SR48 Memorial champion and SR48 #1 David Fink. Lenning, Casey, and Fink will face the most formidable fields of the season, respectively, as the world’s best always make their way to Tucson every fall for The Memorial.

Hundreds of junior and amateur level players will join the top pros at the 2019 Tucson Memorial, as the junior and amateur players will be competing in skill level and age bracket singles and doubles at the Memorial’s handball celebration.

“We take a lot of pride in hosting the Tucson Memorial,” stated Vincent. “No detail is too small in preparing for this mega event, as we have a tremendous staff and an outstanding group of volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure this event is a massive success.”
