RFC 11/R48 Pre Qualifier + 1-Wall Singles
Tournament host and R48 #5 David Fink slammed the RFC, defeating Ireland’s Niall O’Connor in the 4-Wall final and the 1-Wall small ball final. O’Connor defeated current USHA junior national champion David Walsh for the R48 IX Atlanta travel stipend in a thrilling battle, 26-24.

Bill Mehilos turned back the clock on his 3-Wall home courts at LaGrange (Chicago), defeating Charlie Lemus and Dane Szatkowski to reach the final, then overcoming rising star Ricardo Palma in the final. “Bill brought his A game,” stated Palma. “There were upsets all tournament. I played well to get to the final but the finals was a different story, Bill was just too good.”

Los Angeles’ Jr. Vazquez 3-Wall Doubles
45+ national doubles champions Marcos and Carlos Chavez faced LAAC teammates Vic Perez and John Wayne Cortez in the prestigious Jr. Vazquez 3-Wall doubles final in L.A. Team Portez started strong, taking the first game against their mentors. “I started off playing really bad and they were serving really well,” stated SR48 #2 Marcos Chavez.
Team Chavez evened the match to force a third. “Carlos played really well and served well in game two,” stated Marcos.
Team Chavez trailed 7-10 in the tiebreaker, but a Cortez error gave Team Chavez an opening. Marcos scored three consecutive points on Team Chavez’ second serve to tie the game at 10-all. “I went for an ace on the last serve at 10-all but they returned it and won the rally. They won it on the next serve.”
Final: Team Perez/Cortez def Team Chavez 21-12, 18-21, 11-10
