2018/19 SR48 Tour Schedule and Info

Tucson, AZ, WPH Press, 7/12/18- The WPH is thrilled to present the seventh SR48 season during the 2018/19 Race 4 Eight, with three events scheduled to showcase the greatest 40+ handball players on the planet. The world’s best 40+ legends will compete at the ’17 Tucson Memorial, November 2-4, the ’18 Mardi Gras Open/R48LTE in New Orleans, February 15-17, and the ’18 Aces R48 Players Championship in Salt Lake City, UT, May 17-19.

The 2018/19 SR48 season will feature slightly modified rules from last season, as the SR stars will now play best of three games to 15 in all main draw matches. “This is something that a lot of the senior guys have wanted,” stated Colorado’s SR48 star Kevin Price. “We may be getting older but I personally feel like I’m playing my best handball of my career and I love the idea of battling in the best of three format.”

The SR48 Power Rankings will also be adjusted to reward the most in-form players, as the current season’s stops will weigh more heavily on the rankings. “Our committee decided to cut last season’s SR48 results in half, while awarding full points for this season’s stops so the ranking more accurately reflect the current season’s results,” stated WPH Executive Director Dave Vincent.

Expect to see SR48 stars David Fink, Marcos Chavez, Dr. Dan Zimet, George Garcia, Joe Harris, Kevin Price, Dan Armijo, and more handball legends battling for SR48 glory during the 2018/19 SR48 season. As has always been the rule on the SR48, players must be 40 years of age by the first day of the SR48 event in which he or she is entering.

“I have always loved the SR48 tour and I’m really excited for the upcoming season,” stated four-time defending SR48 Player’s Champion and current SR48 #2 Marcos Chavez. “The SR48 tour has such great camaraderie and it’s great to play against the guys I grew up idolizing and playing against for the last 20 years on the pro tour. Don’t be mistaken though, the competition on the SR48 circuit is fierce and we old guys still want to beat each other’s brains in.”
