The 15th season of the WPH Race 4 Eight professional handball tour is right around the corner! As we gear up for an action-packed 2026-27 season, the World Players of Handball (WPH) is excited to officialize the updated ranking methodologies across all three pro tiers: the R48 Men’s Pro, the SR48 Senior’s Pro, and the WR48 Women’s Pro.
Transparency remains paramount to the tour’s integrity. Below is the official breakdown of the point structures, event counting protocols, tie-breaking procedures, and seeding guidelines for Season 15.

Tour Structure & Counting Events: The 2026-27 WPH R48 Men’s Pro Tour will consist of 9 events, with each player’s best 7 events counting towards their ranking. All ranking events less than 12 months old count, and when an event exceeds 12 months, it is removed.

Select events may feature 3rd-place and 17th-place playoffs; if a 3rd-place playoff occurs, 3rd earns 6 points and 4th earns 5.5 points. 2025/26 Season-Ending Pro Women’s Rankings:
Global Tour Regulations (Applies to R48, SR48, & WR48)
Tie-Breaking Procedures & Fractional Bonus Points
To prioritize and heavily weight recent performances, fractional bonus points will be awarded for each event. Any player earning ranking points in the season’s first event receives an extra 0.1 point; points earned in the second event receive an extra 0.2 points, and so forth.
In the rare event that ties persist despite fractional point weights, the WPH will break ties using the following order of criteria:
-
Head-to-head record
-
Higher finishes in common events
-
Record against common opponents
-
Point differential in common events
-
More recently earned ranking points
The Rolling 12-Month System & Carryover Points
To establish a balanced beginning ranking list for Season 15 while preserving weight for current-season events, all ranking points from the prior season are automatically cut in half. Once an event crosses the 12-month mark, it is completely removed from a player’s profile.
Seeding Autonomy
The WPH Executive Director will seed each tournament draw in a manner that respects the core objectivity of the established rankings. However, the WPH acknowledges that certain unranked or lower-ranked competitors possess the skill level to disrupt the integrity of a draw if left strictly to mathematical placement. Consequently, the official seeding process will closely mirror the live rankings while granting the Executive Director the flexibility to subjectively seed potentially disruptive unranked or lower-ranked players.
About the WPH Race 4 Eight
The World Players of Handball’s Race 4 Eight features marquee stops across the country, all culminating with the prestigious Players Championship each May. Much like auto racing’s point championships or the PGA Playoffs, players accumulate points throughout the regular season stops to solidify their year-end rankings, earn qualification status, and chase bonus prizes.
