The 75th USHA National Four Wall Championships is underway at the Tucson Racquet Club, featuring several hundred players competing for the USHA’s crown jewel.
The Men’s Pro singles has featured a number of thrilling matches in the first two days of the event, including three tiebreakers. Shorty Ruiz upset sixth-seeded Ivan Burgos in the round of sixteen, rallying from a 0-7 tiebreaker deficit to stun Burgos, then dropped an 11-7 tiebreaker against Lucho Cordova in the quarterfinals, while Sam Esser narrowly advanced against his collegiate teammate Max Langmack in the round of 16.
Martin Mulkerrins arrived in Tucson in top form, as he aims to defend his title. Mulkerrins swept Ayden Brule and Sam Esser to advance to the semifinals, while second-seeded Ray Ure continues his quest for his first USHA Four Wall Pro Singles title after winning the WPH Player’s Championship in early May, defeating Moises Gardea and Diarmuid Mulkerrins to advance to the semifinals.
