Santa Rosa, CA, WPH Press, 11/24/19- Santa Rosa’s annual Parkpoint “Turkey Shoot” attracted many of Northern California’s best to one of the premiere events on the west coast, as former R48 top 20 pro and Face Team President Erik Torres headlined the Men’s Open Singles field that also included “Hof” tournament director Sean Haley, the Olympic Club’s former top 10 pro Chris Tico, and rising open star Rene Lopez.
Torres overcame Haley in the upper bracket semifinals, while Lopez defeated Tico in the bottom bracket to set up a finals clash between two of the best in NorCal.
Torres and Lopez played evenly during many of the rallies in the final, with Torres relying on his experience and two-handed attack to gain the advantage. “It was a good match and the fans really enjoyed it,” reported Torres. “We had a lot of long rallies but I was able to put the ball down more than Rene did. The Turkey Shoot is always a good tournament to attend and one of my favorite tournaments in NorCal, I highly recommend it.”
Final: Torres def Lopez 21-9, 21-11
Thank you to Turkey Shoot tournament director Francis Breining for a great event.
