Portland, OR, WPH Press- The World Players of Handball, the Alten Handball Foundation, and the Multnomah Athletic Club are proud to present the third annual Portland Classic/R48LTE, October 18-20, 2019 at the Multnomah Athletic Club, located at 1849 SW Salmon St. Portland, OR 97205. The Portland Classic will feature the Northwest’s third Race 4 Eight stop since 2016 and first R48LTE alongside junior/collegiate divisions and skill level and master’s brackets.

Pacific Northwest superstars Dalton Beall, Cody Townsend, and Aaron Garner will represent the handball-crazed state of Oregon at the Portland Classic’s 2019 R48LTE, while top Race 4 Eight stars will make their way to the PNW to battle the OR stars and one another for early-season R48 IX points.
“We have been thrilled with the first two editions of the Portland Classic we are proud to continue building a great tradition each fall with the Portland Classic,” stated Portland Classic co-tournament director Conor Casey. “Adding an official R48LTE to the Portland Classic is a huge boost to the event and the PNW handball community. Our goal is to attract top players from around the country and with the advent of the R48LTE, our the MAC stands will be packed and rocking with excitement.”
“There are a lot of really good players in Oregon and in the Northwest and it’s going to be very exciting to watch the Pacific Northwest superstars challenging the best of the Race 4 Eight tour,” stated Race 4 Eight tour administrator and WPH Executive Director Dave Vincent. “Growing up in Oregon, having a chance to play at the Multnomah Athletic Club was always incredibly exciting. The WPH is thrilled to partner with the Portland Classic, the Alten Handball Foundation, and the MAC in providing this great opportunity for the players and fans in the PNW.”
Juniors and students will play free at the first Portland Classic, thanks to the generosity of the Alten Handball Foundation.

WPH RACE 4 EIGHT: The World Players of Handball’s 2019/20 Race 4 Eight 9 Powered by ESPN features R48 stops in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, Oregon, Montana, Louisiana, Texas, New York, Texas, California, and Utah, all culminating with The Player’s Championship in Utah in May of 2020. Similar to Nascar’s Nextel Cup and the FedEx PGA Playoffs, players earn points in the Race 4 Eight’s regular season stops to qualify for the season-ending Player’s Championship and bonus prizes.
