Harrisburg, PA, WPH Press, 2/7/20- Harrisburg played host to the 2020 PA State Handball Championships on the last weekend in January, with the best from the Keystone State and surrounding states aiming for the State Title in PA’s capital.
Philadelphia’s Carlos Velez overcame Western PA’s Jay Cattron in the semifinals in an 11-7 tiebreaker, while Maryland’s Shane Anderson defeated Velez’s Philadelphia comrade Ben Cruz in an 11-5 tiebreaker in the other semifinal.
Velez dominated the final, holding Anderson to just 15 points in two games to claim the PA State title.
Final: Velez def Anderson 21-10, 21-5
“Great time had by all and a lot of money raised for the Hope in Handball junior development handball program,” stated Cattron.

WPH Press- Makes your plans now to play in two of the premiere handball events east of the Mississippi this winter and spring, as PA’s capital city, Harrisburg, hosts the PA State Handball Championships, January 24-26, 2020 and Columbus, OH hosts the Mid-America Regional 4-Wall Handball Championships, April 3-5, 2020.
“We are running the PA State Handball Championships to honor and remember our friend and fellow handball junkie Randy Wolfe (who ran this tournament for several years) and to raise funds to help support and sustain handball in the Harrisburg area through their Hope in Handball program,” stated PA State Handball Championships tournament director Jay Cattron.

The Mid-America Regional 4-Wall Handball Championships is expecting more than 80 players and will feature $500 to the winner of the Open Singles. All participants will receive a lined, lightweight, high quality zipper jacket.
