Kansas City, KS, WPH Press, 6/18/23- The famed KCAC hosted the 2023 Tim Nass KC 3-Wall on Father’s Day Weekend, featuring 13-time defending USHA 3-Wall national champion Sean Lenning and R48 #1 Lucho Cordova at the KCAC’s two-court 3-Wall court complex.
Lenning and Lucho both cruised to the final in the 12-man open bracket to meet for the third time in a final in 2023. Lucho had won their previous two finals, defeating Lenning on his home court at Club Campestre at the 2023 R48LTE Juarez and again two weeks later at the 2023 R48LTE Hall of Fame in Tucson. Lucho entered the KCAC 3-Wall final on a four-tournament Pro 3-Wall singles winning streak that started in June of 2022 but had never defeated Lenning in 3-Wall.
Lucho took the first game of the final in a match that mirrored their 4-Wall encounters from earlier in the season. Lucho’s speed and anticipation extended rallies, while also exhausting Lenning. Lucho also defended Lenning’s vaunted 3-Wall serve better than any player in the last two decades, not allowing Lenning to score aces or first strike points. Lucho took the first game comfortably and with the pair tied at nine in the second game, Lucho took control, pushing Lenning behind him with drives and striking fly kills in the front court.
“I was playing very well in the first,” stated Lucho. “Lots of first strike kills and aces. I feel the difference was the serve. I was serving better than him. We were very close in the rallies. There were some great rallies where we each picked up a lot of good shots.”
