Get Ready for a Spectacular Month of June with the WPH!

The World Players of Handball has been extremely busy as the summer approaches. We recently hosted a sensational junior 1WallBall tournament in New York City then started preparing for X Fest II Xrossover/JR WPH California State Championships in Surf City; and then have our sights on another live broadcast of the USHA 4 Wall National Handball Championships from Fridley, Minnesota.

IMG_9421The JR WPH NYC 1WallBall Junior Shootout on Memorial Day Weekend featured more than 70 handball players between the ages of 14-19 competing in Brooklyn’s St. John’s Park, with the youngsters demonstrating exceptional handball skills and sportsmanship. Special thanks to Veronica Figueroa, Danielle Daskalakis and Bryan Lucero for all of their help with the spectacular event.

thexWPH Outdoor heads to Southern California June 10th-12th for the X-Fest II Xrossover Challenge and JR WPH California State Championships. The X-Fest will challenge the top outdoor players in 3-Wall Small Ball Singles, 3-Wall Big Ball Singles and 1-Wall Big Ball Doubles with the champion demonstrating the ultimate cross over skills. Sean Lenning and Catriona Casey captured the men’s and women’s X-Fest I last summer, respectively, and will look to repeat this year in Marina Park against a strong field that includes Juan Santos, Armando Ortiz, Marcos Chavez, Ciana Ni Churraoin, Tracy Davis, Tanisha Groomes and many more. Juniors will showcase their talents throughout the weekend with singles and doubles brackets for youngsters between the ages of 8-19. The juniors will also learn from the pros in clinics throughout the weekend.

IMG_6581Just days after the XFest II wraps, the WPH will proudly collaborate with the USHA to broadcast the 2016 USHA Four Wall Nationals from Fridley Minnesota. All of the action can be seen free on race4eight.com starting on Thursday, June 16th, as we will track Paul Brady’s trek to reach Naty Alvarado’s 11th title.  Special thanks to the USHA’s President’s Club for their support of video innovation and archiving; meanwhile, big ups to the WPH BOD, donors and supporters; plus the WPHLiveTV video team lead by Linda Manning and Kris Gurrad.
