Flores Named Director

Tom (L) with brother Javier (R)

Los Angeles, CA, WPH Press, 1/6/16- The World Players of Handball is thrilled to announce Southern California’s Tom Flores as the World Players of Handball Foundation’s Outdoor Director, effective January 1st, 2016. Mr. Flores will serve as the tournament manager at all official WPH Outdoor events, tournament manager at selected WPH Race 4 Eight events, head of Southern California Junior WPH, head of the grassroots WPH Outdoor tournament recruiting and ambassador to the World Players of Handball Foundation.

Mr. Flores has served as the unofficial WPH Outdoor Director since 2013, working 18-hour days at all official WPH Outdoor events, hosting numerous WPH Outdoor weekend tournaments in Southern California, recruiting hundreds of players to participate in WPH Outdoor events, serving as the tournament desk manager at several WPH Race 4 Eight events and coaching numerous players to the top level of 3-Wall Big Ball handball.

“As a member of the WPH staff, I cannot express my elation in officially welcoming Tom to the WPH team,” stated WPH Development Director David Fink. “Tom is unquestionably one of the hardest workers I’ve ever seen, often starting his tournament day at 5 am and working past midnight. Tom brings decades of experience to managing tournaments, recruiting players and ensuring that tournaments are professional and efficiently run. I am perhaps most excited about working with Tom in building Junior WPH Southern California. In 2015, the WPH held three mega junior clinics in Southern California with 60+ junior players at each clinic and we have plans for more clinics and opportunities for young people to play handball in 2016 and beyond. Tom will be coaching clinics, recruiting enthusiastic coaches and building a Junior WPH team in the L.A./O.C. counties.”

“We were so fortunate to have found Tom a few years ago and he has made an incredible impact on the WPH in his two years with us,” stated WPH Executive Director David Vincent. “Tom is extremely well-respected in the Big Ball community and officially joining the WPH team will provide more opportunities for Tom to help us grow this great sport on the professional and amateur outdoor and indoor settings, as well as introducing and coaching more junior players. We look forward to having Tom at virtually all of our Race 4 Eight events and WPH Outdoor events and to a great 2016.”

“Congratulations to Mr. Tom Flores in being named the WPH Outdoor Director,” stated Simple Green U.S. Open Handball tournament director and living legend Naty Alvarado Sr. “Tom is amazing and knows the players incredibly well, as Tom has helped me tremendously in seeding and running the Simple Green U.S. Open outdoor events for the past three years. Tom is an incredibly hard-working individual and the WPH is wise in selecting him as the WPH Outdoor Director.”

Mr. Flores often teams with his brother, Javi Flores, with the tandem forming the best tournament management team in court sports. If you would like to contact Mr. Flores with any questions on the upcoming 2016 WPH Outdoor Player’s Cup Series, please email him at flores@wphlive.tv
