Los Angeles, CA, WPH Press – The Los Angeles Athletic Club and the World Players of Handball are thrilled to present the 2023 LAAC R48 Pre Qualifier, December 8-9, 2023 at the LAAC, located at 431 W 7th St., Los Angeles, CA 90014.

The winner of the 2023 LAAC R48 Pre Qualifier will receive a $300 travel stipend to the 2023/24 Race 4 Eight event of his choice upon completion of his first match at the 2023/24 Race 4 Eight event of his choosing. The travel stipend is non-transferrable, meaning only the LAAC R48 Pre Qualifier champion can earn the travel stipend.  

The LAAC R48 Pre Qualifier pro singles bracket will be capped at 16 players and the 35+ and 60+ doubles will be limited to four teams in each bracket.

“We are very proud to represent the LAAC and we are excited to host our fifth R48 Pre Qualifier this December,” stated LAAC R48 Pre Qualifier tournament director Vic Perez. 

L.A.’s R48 #16 Dylan Hernandez will enter the 2023 LAAC R48 Pre Qualifier as the defending champion, having defeated John Wayne Cortez in a tiebreaker in last year’s LAAC R48 Pre Qualifier final.

Since 2017, R48 Pre Qualifiers have been held in Pittsburgh, Tucson, Austin, College Station, L.A., San Francisco, Salt Lake City, and Portland, creating tremendous excitement for players and fans. The WPH is proud to provide extensive promotion, real-time and post coverage of all R48 Pre Qualifiers.

WPH RACE 4 EIGHT: The World Players of Handball’s 2023/24 Race 4 Eight XIII Powered by ESPN features Race 4 Eight stops in Oregon, Arizona, Missouri, Montana and Mexico, all culminating with The Player’s Championship in Utah in May of 2023. Similar to NASCAR’s Nextel Cup and the FedEx PGA Playoffs, players earn points in the Race 4 Eight’s regular season stops to qualify for the season-ending Player’s Championship and bonus prizes.
