The Oregon Handball Association is thrilled to continue its partnership with the World Players of Handball in growing and promoting the game of handball in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. In keeping with this mission, the OHA and WPH are proud to announce the 2025 Oregon State Singles Championship, sponsored by the WPH, to be held on March 7th – 9th at Sunset Athletic Club in Beaverton, Oregon.
“No one promotes handball better than the World Players of Handball, and we are excited to partner with the WPH again for another stellar handball tournament,” stated tournament director Nick Flores. “Participants loved our previous tournaments at Sunset Athletic Club, and the club was happy to have us return, so everything worked out perfectly.”
Sunset Athletic Club boasts three beautiful show courts with bleachers for great spectating, in addition to six other handball courts in the facility. The concrete walls play fast and the floors are well maintained and the ball bounces true. The facility includes pristine locker rooms with towel service, hot tubs, and a heated therapy pool in the aquatic area.
The Alten Handball Foundation has generously offered to subsidize player entries, meaning deep discounts on entry fees. The first division will only be $20, and the second division will only be $10. But don’t think that means reduced hospitality! Hospitality chairman Ed Fredenburgh has terrific food and beverage planned, including Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and Sunday breakfast and lunch, as well as beer served all tournament long. As always, juniors and students will receive free entry, and the youngsters will be treated to a Junior WPH clinic during the tournament.
The Oregon State Singles Championship is Oregon’s premier handball tournament, offering inclusive divisions for everyone, including Open/A/B/C skill divisions, Women’s Red 21 and White 21 divisions, Masters Singles, Collegiate Singles, and Big Ball Singles. There will even be fun doubles for those players who don’t want to play singles, but would like to enjoy the tournament all the same. The Oregon Handball Association proudly invites players from out of state to participate in our tournaments as well.
The Open division offers numerous compelling stories, as two-time defending champion Kyle English aims to secure a three-peat. However, nine-time champion Dalton Beall will want to finally break the Oregon record by winning his tenth state singles title. Other players to watch include previous state champions Matt Steele and Ryan Grossenbacher, previous regional champion Cody Townsend, former Utah state champion Andy Romanchock, and standout Ohio-to-Oregon transplant Tyler Stevens.
The entry deadline is Friday, February 28th
