The Daytona/Ormond Beach Handball Association hosted the Second Annual Florida 3-Wall Oktoberfest at Nova Community Park in Ormond Beach, FL.
“We have four beautiful 3-Wall courts just a few miles from the beach,” stated the Daytona/Ormond Beach Handball Association. “Players enjoyed daily hospitality, a Saturday evening party, a tournament souvenir, and rings for champions.”
Men’s Open Singles
Florida’s Nick Mattioni dominated the Oktoberfest, defeating Race 4 Eight pro Taylor Schmitt in two games in the semifinals and rallying from a one-game deficit to defeat top-seeded Kyle Greenhalgh in the final.
“I played pretty well and was able to beat up on the young guys,” stated Mattioni, who moved from Tennessee to South Florida several years ago. “Kyle is a tough player. I tried my best to save my arm and broke out some power serves and hops when I needed them, that’s how I really closed them out. It was fun but a battle. Jen Schmitt is great and it was really tough to reschedule the event due to the hurricane””
