The 33rd LaGrange 3-Wall Tournament continued its tradition as one of the premiere events of the summer, boasting more than eighty players, including eighteen in Men’s Open Singles draw.
2023 R48 Player’s Champion and undefeated WPH Icebreaker star Killian Carroll headlined the Men’s Open Singles field that included LaGrange defending champion Dane Szatkowski, R48 stars Loren Collado, Ray Ure, Bill Mehilos, David Schiller and a number of Chicago’s best players.
In the Men’s Open Singles upper bracket, Ray Ure defeated R48 pro Loren Collado in the quarterfinals after dropping the first game and overcame defending champion Dane Szatkowski in two grueling games to make the final.
Second-seeded Killian Carroll defeated fist-shot specialist David Schiller in the quarterfinals and survived a second-game scare from sharp-shooting Dave Munson in the second game of his semifinal to meet Ure in the final.
Carroll played his best match of the tournament in the final, not allowing one of the Midwest’s top collegiate milers into the match.
“It was not a competitive match,” stated Ure. “My body was shot and wasn’t letting me move as quickly as usual and I was out of energy. Killian was also playing how he does. Good experience and I was happy with the tournament nonetheless.”
