WPH Pre Aces Player’s Championship Race 4 Eight Rankings

WPH Press, Tucson, AZ, 3/7/22

The WPH is thrilled to debut the 2021/22 R48 Men’s Pro and 2021/22 WR48 pre Aces Player’s Championship rankings.

R48 Men’s Pro

After six events on the 2021/22 R48 Men’s Pro season, Killian Carroll sits atop the rankings with a perfect 21-0 record on the season, which includes five titles in five starts. “This will be the first time I’ll be going into the Player’s Championship undefeated and that has been a goal of mine,” stated 20-time R48 champion and current R48 #1 Carroll.

Lucho Cordova sits at number two in the WPH rankings, finishing in the top three in all five of his 2021/22 R48 X starts, including three finals appearances. David Fink is enjoying one of his best seasons, notching one win and two third place finishes in four starts to earn his ninth consecutive Player’s Championship invite, while Danos Cordova is tied with Fink at third with one finals appearance and three semifinal appearances in his five R48 X starts.

Leo Canales, Jr. finished the 2021/22 R48 X regular season at fifth in rankings on the heels of his best season to date, earning his first Player’s Championship Elite 8 invite with one semifinal appearance and five quarterfinal appearances in his six R48 X starts.

Having never been ranked inside the Race 4 Eight top 20, 2022 Race 4 Eight breakout star Sam Esser surged into the Race 4 Eight Elite 8  for the first time with three fifth place finishes and two seventh place finishes to finish the R48 X regular season at number six.

Rounding out the R48 Men’s Pro 2022 Aces Player’s Championship Elite 8 field are first time Player’s Championship Elite 8 invitees Shorty Ruiz and Stephen Cooney. Both Ruiz and Cooney notched semifinal appearances during the 2021/22 Race 4 Eight season, catapulting them into the R48 Elite 8.

WR48

21-time WR48 champion Catriona Casey sits atop the 2021/22 WR48 rankings with Danielle Daskalakis, as each won her only WR48 start of the season. Daskalakis won the season’s first stop at the 2021 USHA Four Wall Nationals in December and Casey won the season’s second stop in February in Houston. Ashley Moler and Fiona Tully are tied for third with one second place finish a piece thus far this season, while Aimee Tuohey and Mikaila Esser are tied for fifth on the WR48 rankings with one third place finish a piece this season.

The 2021/22 R48 Men’s Pro rankings counted each player’s best four of six events leading into Salt Lake City and will count the best five of seven events at season’s end. Only the top 10 finishers from the first six R48 X events earned R48 Men’s Pro ranking points.

The WR48 counted the first two events for the rankings leading into Salt Lake City and will count all three events towards the rankings at season’s end. Only the top three finishers from each of the first two 2021/22 WR48 events earned ranking points.
