The WPH is excited to continue the WPH Handball Destination Series to showcase the world’s greatest handball cities and venues. On this edition of the WPH Handball Destination Series, we will feature the handball collegiate powerhouse Minnesota State University, Mankato, home to collegiate superstars Mark Doyle, Jab Bike, Clodagh Munroe, Shane Dunne, Ray Ure and many more.

“There are a lot of singles and doubles matches that we play,” stated Minnesota State University, Mankato Race 4 Eight pro Jab Bike. “We also play cut throat and games of 7, depending on who is in the court and what we are working on that day. If you have something specific you need to work on, there is someone who will be able to help you.

Best most memorable tournament at Mankato: “The Maverick Open, which is held on campus,” stated Coach Wells. “It is a continuation of the Mankato Handball Experience, which was held at the local YMCA. Many top pros have played in it like Killian Carroll, Emmett Peixoto, and David Chapman.”

Guests at Minnesota State University, Mankato courts: Guests can play on the courts whenever the campus is open.

“I like how close the courts are to where I live, which is a 15-minute walk,” stated Race 4 Eight pro and Mankato graduate student Jab Bike. “There are a lot of good players here who are looking to get better, and that creates a good, competitive environment. Mike Wells knows what he is talking about when it comes to teaching handball and developing players, and I have already seen improvement in the short time that I have been here. I am looking forward to these next two years. There isn’t a better college in the U.S. right now to come learn and get better at handball than Mankato.”
