Time to Join a #Team: Here’s Why

The WPH enters another season of the widely viewed Race4Eight Professional 4 Wall Handball Tour, Powered by ESPN; meanwhile, the Race for the Hemborg Ford Cup in the WPH Outdoor 3 Wall Big Ball Series heats up, as Junior WPH introduces the sport to over 2,000 new young adults each summer; while conducting thousands of handball clinics across the globe annually.

The WPH Film Crew just filmed it’s 2,500th handball match and signed a new eight-stop contract with ESPN to place handball back on the map in Bristol, CT. WPH Live TV will film 1 Wall (Small & Big Ball), 3 Wall (Small & Big Ball), 4 Wall (Small & Big Ball), plus a little Racquetball over the next 12 months.

Now is the time to join #TEAMRACE and show your support (professional, financial, other) and become a member: www.wphpass.com.  As a member you will receive new #TeamRace apparel, plus extended membership benefits.

The members of this group see a future. Do you want to join them?  “I’m proud to be part of the team and will do my best to promote the game,” says Canadian Legend, Merv Deckert, from the World Handball Championships.  “Will do whatever it takes, to make a difference with the WPH.”

What does being a member of #TeamRace, #Team48, #TeamWPH mean?  It’s a group of fans, players and supporters of handball that are helping the growth of the game from a Peer-to-Peer Networking angle. This group of WPH members want to emulate the WPH mass marketing approach by helping expand the game by promoting and reporting back to the WPH via Email, text, Twitter, Facebook, etc.

A grassroots revolution.

WPH relies on #TeamRace for continuous updates:

Although the WPH didn’t send a team to Calgary, as they did in 2012 (Irish Worlds), the WPH is tracking results from those regularly highlighted on the Race4Eight Professional Handball Tour, Powered by ESPN & WPH Outdoor Cup Series (3 Wall Big Ball).  WPH Executive Director, David Vincent, explains that the Team in Canada is comprised of handball members that approached the WPH with the attempt of promoting the organization to help further the awareness of the sport.  “By no means are we attempting to trump the efforts of GAA Handball Ireland, Team USA, #EDTLHandball, the NYAC, Olympic Club or other establishments that sponsor and support this game,” Vincent says.  “This Team came together NOT as a World’s Team, but rather a way to honor and promote the players and to possibly add some extra hype to the sport that is in the need of a positive shot in the arm. The top players are leaders and it is refreshing seeing them send us continuous updates (court-side) and promoting the sport.”  Over 95% of all updates posted on the WPH main site and WPH social media comes from #TeamRace Members.

WPH Members are comprised of athletes and spectators that have picked up their camera phones, notepads and laptops, proactively, to report scores, update us on current issues, highlight behind the scenes and bring light to the game we all love.  WPH members are:  Volunteers of the sport …of the organization bringing them accelerated Junior Development, The Professional Handball tour, ESPN Coverage & Mass Exposure.  In Canada, the WPH has turned to #Team Reporters, Jessica Gawley (CAN), Martina McMahon (IRE), Shirley Chen/Danielle Daskalakis (NY), Catriona Casey (IRE) and Timothy Gonzalez (NY), plus have been feed scores and live feeds from Alethia Mendez (NY), and many other players.  Also on the squad, Charles Shanks, Dairmaid Nash, Martin Mulkerrins, Colm Jordon (all from Ireland), plus #KeyTeam48’ers Tracy Davis and Luis Moreno (USA).  In fact, we calculated over 300 #TeamRace members are in Canada supporting the game.
