Parting Shots from the Tucson Race 4 Eight IV Stop #2 and Junior WPH Benefit, Powered by ESPN and EDTL Handball:

• Paul Brady won his fifth R48 Stop in six starts and becomes the #1 pro on the WPH R48 Power Rankings for the first time

• Juarez dominates all non-pro divisions in Tucson, winning the A, B, and D singles, the Open and B Doubles, and taking second in the B Doubles, A Singles, B singles and 9-and-under and 11-and-under junior singles

• Juarez’s Juan Canales finished 6th in his first Senior Race 4 Eight start, defeating Bear Meiring along the way. Canales is a former national racquetball champion in Mexico and has dedicated himself to the rest of the Senior Race 4 Eight season. Look out seniors!

• Tracy Davis capped an incredible 2014 campaign, adding the Tucson R48 Junior Benefit Women’s Pro Singles title to her 1-Wall and 3-Wall small ball singles and doubles national titles

• Courtney Peixoto de Melo is back! After nearly three years off the tour to start a family, CPM came within three points of beating WR48 #2 Jessica Gawley at the U.S. Open and lost in two very close games in Tucson to WR48 #3 Tracy Davis. Look for CPM to quickly climb the WR48 rankings in 2015

• New York superstar Timbo Gonzalez became the only player in 2014 to have won pro titles in 1-Wall, 3-Wall, and 4-Wall. Timbo captured the 4-Wall big ball pro doubles in Tucson with partner Shorty Ruiz

• Javi Flores won the Sportsmanship Award at the Tucson Race 4 Eight IV Stop #2 and Junior WPH Benefit, Powered by ESPN and EDTL Handball for his incredible efforts behind the tournament desk and inspiring enthusiasm and passion for the sport of handball

• Jon Iglesias won 9th in Tucson, knocking off Daniel Cordova, Marcos Chavez, and Mando Ortiz. What a weekend!

• Tucson’s Abraham Montijo earnsed his highest ever Race 4 Eight finish, claiming 5th place after taking down Sean Lenning and Stephen Cooney, both in overtime

• Adam Bernhard and Daniel Cordova qualified for the first time on the Race tour and showed they both have the games to push the best in the sport

• The WPH was incredibly fortunate to have received help from so many amazing volunteers throughout the weekend in Tucson to make the tournament such a great success. Thank you to Charlie Wicker, Tom Flores, Javi Flores, Shorty Ruiz, Ashley Moler, Tanner Cleveland, Scott Cleveland, Brenda Hays, Jeff Healam, Fred Banfield, Ana Paolo, and many more great people
