The United States Handball Association proudly hosted the 61st USHA One-Wall Nationals at Coney Island in New York City, featuring the best 1-Wall men’s and women’s small ball players in the game.
Men’s
Tyree Bastidas entered the 61st USHA One-Wall Nationals as the number one seed and on his way to becoming one of the sport’s all-time best. Tyree was dominant en route to the final, dispatching 1-Wall ironman PeeWee Castro in the quarterfinals and decisively eliminating R48 #1 Killian Carroll in the semifinals. “Tyree looks really sharp and I think he’ll win this,” stated former champion Timbo Gonzalez, who was a late scratch due to a hamstring injury.
Jurell Bastidas entered the event as the number two seed and survived a tiebreaker against hard-hitting Alvaro Rebaza in the quarterfinals and a stern test against 1-Wall veteran Saul Gonzalez in the semifinals to meet his brother in the final.
Tyree won his eighth One Wall Nationals singles title by overcoming his brother in the final.

Tyree and Jurell assured the Bastidas dynasty of a slam, as the brothers teamed to win the doubles, defeating William Polanco and Allan Sanchez in the final.

Women’s
Danielle Daskalakis continued to rewrite the record books, as the 4-Wall, 3-Wall, and 1-Wall small ball and big ball star added another slam against one of the strongest women’s fields in recent memory.
Danielle faced her doubles partner and longtime rival Sandy Ng in the singles final, with the two best players in women’s small ball 1-Wall handball showcasing power, finesse, strategy, and speed. “The women’s singles final was great,” stated New York 1-Wall ambassador Jared Vale. “Sandy is strong and the best (1-Wall) small ball competition for Danielle. It was good to have all of the (best) women participate for the first time in several years.”
Danielle and Sandy teamed to defeat Tracy Davis and Mel Sky in the women’s doubles final.
