The Minnesota State University, Mankato Handball Team is thrilled to present the 2025 Maverick Open & R48 Pre Qualifier at Pennington Hall, Mankato, MN 56001.

The 2025 Maverick Open & R48 Pre Qualifier is open to all players, including the R48 Elite 8. The winner of the Men’s Open singles bracket at the 2025 Mankato Maverick Open & R48 Pre Qualifier will be awarded $300 from the WPH upon completion of his first Race 4 Eight match during the 2024/25 Race 4 Eight season. The $300 travel stipend cannot be transferred to another player.

“We are very excited about partnering with collegiate handball powerhouse and current collegiate national champion Minnesota State University, Mankato Handball Team in presenting the 2025 Mankato Maverick Open & R48 Pre Qualifier in January of 2025,” stated the WPH’s David Fink. “Minnesota State University, Mankato features several of the Race 4 Eight’s top players and the 2025 Maverick Open & R48 Pre Qualifier will undoubtedly generate a great field and tremendous matches.”

Expect to see Race 4 Eight #NextGen stars Ray Ure, Mark Doyle, Jab Bike, Bryan Trejo and more competing on their home courts at Pennington Hall.

Since 2017, R48 Pre Qualifiers have been held in Pittsburgh, Tucson, Austin, L.A., San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Portland, and College Station creating tremendous excitement for players and fans. The WPH is proud to provide extensive promotion, real-time and post coverage of all R48 Pre Qualifiers.

WPH RACE 4 EIGHT: The World Players of Handball’s 2024/25 Race 4 Eight XV Powered by ESPN features Race 4 Eight stops from California to Mexico, all culminating with The Player’s Championship. Similar to NASCAR’s Nextel Cup and the FedEx PGA Playoffs, players earn points in the Race 4 Eight’s regular season stops to qualify for the season-ending Player’s Championship and bonus prizes.
