Hood River, OR, WPH Press, 4/17/17- The Hood River Handball Association is proud to partner with the World Players of Handball in hosting the third annual Hood River Invitational, featuring a three-match minimum, one-day mixed doubles extravaganza. The Hood River Invitational will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Hood River Elks Club (#1507), located at 304 Cascade Ave, Hood River, OR, 97031.
The Hood River Invitational will feature the WPH Race 4 Eight #17 pro and Oregon handball superstar Dalton Beall and his closest Oregon rival, Brandon Townsend. Playing alongside Beall and Townsend will be several dozen of the Pacific Northwest’s top amateur and age division players.
“Not only do the players benefit from having a great day of handball at the Hood River Invitational, but we give back profits from the tournament to an individual within the Hood River community who is in need,” stated tournament director Stephen Stenberg. “This year we are partnering with Evan Sowa and his family. Evan had a VSD (hole between the 2 ventricles) and a narrowing of the aorta when he was born. He needed two heart surgeries right away but they were only able to fix the narrowing aorta. It wasn’t until recently that they were able to go back into the hospital and fix the VSD. Evan and his family have been through a ton these past couple of years and right around his 2nd birthday (March 9th) he started walking. We are excited to support Evan and his family this year!”
The Hood River Handball Association is an official non-profit organization that was created three years ago. Their mission as an organization is to promote healthy lifestyles through the amazing sport of Handball. Michael and Stephen Stenberg created the HRHA and over the past couple of years brought on siblings Andrew and Philip Stenberg to help further the organizations potential. The annual handball tournament is designed to promote the game, encourage healthy lifestyles, and give back to someone in the community.
