*POSTPONED* Clark Park 3 Wall in Tucson *POSTPONED*

Announcement:  The City of Tucson has halted all public meetings and is asking that events with more than 50 attendees be postponed in response to concerns about COVID-19 (Coronavirus). In addition, Tucson Mayor Regina Romero, stated that the city of Tucson would no-longer issue special event permits with an expected attendance of 50 persons or more; to which our Inaugural Clark Park 3 Wall Tournament this weekend would have exceeded four-fold.

Tucson City employees have been asked to work from home when possible and since this event would be on City property it appears a shutdown would have been forced, regardless of our desire to continue.  A director at Tucson’s Parks and Rec asked that the WPH postpone the tournament this weekend and then indicated that the WPH/City operating permit would most likely be rescinded.

At this time, the World Players of Handball, in accordance with the City of Tucson, has made the decision to postpone this weekend’s Clark Park 3 Wall event and will postpone the professional handball tour for up to six weeks, while evaluating the progress of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) through local, government and statewide officials.

The WPH wants to thank the hard work of Benny Young, Jeff Healam, plus volunteers that helped beautify the park for this event, the City of Tucson, Doug Clark, former Mayor Johnathan Rothschild, Fred Banfield and event sponsors.  Additionally, BJ’s Restaurant on Oracle, Jose Hernandez and his team, plus Jim Verhaeghe, Scott Cleveland, Ashley Moler, Lolita de Vincent, David Fink, Braulio Ruiz, Ivan Lugo, Pete Jorgensen, Alex Trujillo and all who put in hard hours to not only make this event work, but to help beautify the park.

We will reschedule this event at a future time and in the interim will refund all player entry fees.
