The WPH has proudly presented the WPH Sunday Stats since the start of 2020, highlighting the Race 4 Eight’s and Icebreaker’s greatest champions and stats, longest winning streaks, greatest accomplishments, tournament directors, nicknames, obscure stats, handball’s origins and history, handball champions featured in national publications, and so much more.

This Sunday we’ll revisit what is widely regarded as the most famous handball picture in history – then heavyweight champion Mike Tyson playing handball with his manager and all-time great Jimmy Jacobs in Las Vegas in 1987.

“It was a bit of fun, a PR shot for Handball Magazine,” stated Steve Lott, who worked for Jimmy Jacobs and was a friend of Tyson. “There was a club there called the Sporting House. I said to Mike, ‘I’d like to shoot some shots of you and Jim, just tossing the ball up in front of each other, just for Handball Magazine. He said ‘Great, let’s go’. “So I brought them down, they put on the handball shirts and the gloves and threw the ball up a few times for two minutes, and, click click click, I took some photos.”
