WPH Press

The WPH has proudly presented the WPH Sunday Stats since the start of 2020, highlighting the Race 4 Eight’s and Icebreaker’s greatest champions, longest winning streaks, greatest accomplishments, tournament directors, nicknames, obscure stats, handball’s origins and history, and so much more. This Sunday we’ll revisit a feature article on then 19-year-old David Chapman in Sports Illustrated in June of 1995.

Sports Illustrated featured David Chapman in the June 1995 edition, highlighting David’s rise to the top of the handball rankings as a 19-year-old.

Excerpts from Give the Kid a Hand:

“He’s got a mental dimension that most people don’t have,” says Burnett. “The great ones have the ability to focus and shut everything else out.”

“David is playing at a time when there are a lot of contenders, and that makes it more amazing that he always wins,” says No. 2 ranked John Bike, Jr.
