The Kansas City Athletic Club proudly hosted the 2023 Quirk World 3-Wall Doubles Tournament at the two-court 3-Wall complex at the KCAC featuring eighty-five players from Kansas, Missouri, Arizona and Iowa.
Former Icebreaker doubles champions and top 10 Race 4 Eight pros Braulio Ruiz and Sam Esser slammed the Quirk at Esser’s homecoming, dominating the ten-team small ball doubles field and the nineteen-team big ball doubles field.
“It rained all day today (Sunday) so we played both finals inside,” stated Esser. “Hector and Ryan would’ve been much tougher outside, but we beat them pretty good inside.”
Ashley Ruiz and Mikaila Esser completed the first husband/wife trifecta, dominating the A Doubles to give Team Esser/Ruiz three titles at the KCAC.
Small Ball Final: Ruiz/Esser def Willis/Facio, Jr. 21-8, 21-2
Big Ball Final: Ruiz/Esser def Team Campos
A Final: Ruiz/Esser def Tschirn/Murphy
