The WPH Race 4 Eight 6 Stop #2 & University of Minnesota Fall Handball Classic
Minneapolis, MN, WPH Press, 11/11/16- The World Players of Handball and the University of Minnesota Handball Club are proud to present the WPH Race 4 Eight 6 Stop #2 at the University of Minnesota Recreation and Wellness Center, 123 Southeast Harvard St., Minneapolis, MN 55455 from November 18th-20th 2016. The second stop on the R48 6 season will feature the best pro and master’s handball pros in the world, with players traveling from across the U.S., Mexico, Ireland, and Canada to Minneapolis for the final WPH Race 4 Eight ranking event of 2016.
The Race 4 Eight Men’s Pro will feature top-seeded stars Mando Ortiz and Sean Lenning. California’s Ortiz and Washington’s Lenning each won one Race 4 Eight title last season and are tied atop the WPH Power Rankings entering Minneapolis’ stop. The two hottest players on the tour will have to contend with fellow Elite 8 rivals Killian Carroll (Ireland), Luis Moreno (AZ), Emmett Peixoto (CA), Daniel Cordova (TX), David Fink (AZ), and Luis Cordova (Mexico). The Elite 8 R48 stars will be joined by up to 32 qualifier hopefuls aiming to join the best in the sport, including Minnesota’s local hero and former Race 4 Eight finalist Andy Nett.
The Senior Race 4 Eight (40+) will be held in the conjunction with the Race 4 Eight Men’s Pro, with Southern California heated rivals Marcos Chavez and Naty Alvarado, Jr. renewing their contentious rivalry that has produced the most exciting matches in the sport throughout the past two years.
All of the weekend action will be broadcast live on the Watch ESPNApp (here), as the WPH continues its electrifying handball coverage for the third consecutive season on the Worldwide Leader in Sports.
The World Players of Handball’s Race 4 Eight 6 Powered by ESPN and features seven regular season stops, culminating with The Player’s Championship in Salt Lake City in April of 2017. Similar to Nascar’s Nextel Cup and the FedEx PGA Playoffs, players earn points in the Race 4 Eight’s first six stops to qualify for the season-ending Player’s Championship and bonus prizes. Ireland’s Robbie McCarthy claimed the first title of the season at the Simple Green U.S. Open in October and sits atop the Race 4 Eight 6 points standings through the first of seven events. Minneapolis plays host to the second event of the Race 4 Eight 6 season, with the remaining events being held in Coeur d’Alene (ID), New Orleans, Houston, New York City, and Salt Lake City.
