WPH Press, San Francisco, CA, 2/15/17- San Francisco’s Olympic Club is thrilled to host the 2017 Olympic Club Invitational Singles Handball Tournament and pro exhibition matches, featuring the Olympic Club’s Handball Pro Emeritus and Elite 8 WPH Race 4 Eight pro Emmett Peixoto, the Olympic Club’s top 25 WPH Race 4 Eight pro Erik Torres, and current WPH Race 4 Eight Player’s Champion and National Champion Killian Carroll. Carroll will challenge 11-time Olympic Club champion Emmett Peixoto on Thursday evening, February 23rd and Erik Torres on Saturday, February 25th. The 2017 Olympic Club Invitational Singles Handball Tournament kicks off on Friday, February 24th, featuring the best amateur handball players from California, Nevada, and Oregon, as well as the New York Athletic Club’s former Elite 8 Race 4 Eight pro Stephen Cooney. The Olympic Club is located at 524 Post St., San Francisco, CA 94102.

The pro exhibition matches will undoubtedly be the highlight of the weekend, as three of the game’s greatest players will thrill the enthusiastic handball galleries with world-class athleticism, skill, and intensity. The Olympic Club is one of handball’s most storied venues, having formed in the mid 1800’s and boasting some of the best players of all time throughout its celebrated history.

The exhibition match between Peixoto and Carroll will serve as a fundraiser for the Olympic Club Foundation, promoting organized athletics to enrich young lives and future community leaders.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to have the current national champion at the Olympic Club,” stated Peixoto. “All of our handball members are thoroughly excited to meet him and watch him play. I couldn’t be more excited to play this exhibition match. Killian is potentially the best competition out there right now–he’s quick, consistent, and plays incredibly smart. I can’t wait!”

“I’m feeling ecstatic about my upcoming trip to San Francisco,” stated Carroll. “First of all I have never been to the beautiful city and I look forward to seeing all the main attractions like the Golden Gate Bridge, Japanese Tea Garden, and also I heard China Town is really cool. It’s an honor to be asked to play the exhibition and I’m very excited to play at The Olympic Club. I’ve heard many great things about the club and playing some good handball as well. I also look forward to meeting new people and watching some good handball.”
Matches from the event will be streamed live on tournament director Joey Mucha’s Facebook page.
