WPH R48 #13 pro Jonathan Iglesias dominated a stellar field at one of the biggest 4-Wall tournaments in the Northeast to claim the prestigious Albany Open.
Iglesias defeated Daniel Cordova, Marcos Chavez, and Mando Ortiz two weeks ago at the Tucson R48 IV Stop #2 and continued his outstanding play in Albany, defeating Ireland’s Patrick Funchion in the quarterfinals, defending champion Billy O’Donnell in the semifinals, and Peter Funchion in the finals.
“The Funchion brothers are really good,” revealed Iglesias minutes completing the “Funchion slam”.
Despite dropping the final 21-11, 21-15 to Iglesias, Peter Funchion announced himself as a future star with a two-game victory over 2014 USHA Grand National Series champion Tyree Bastidas and a three-game thriller over Mike Schneider in the semifinals. Both Peter and Patrick will be in the field at the WPH’s RFC 6 in Pittsburgh, PA next weekend.
