Tolleson, AZ, WPH Press, 1/14/25
Tournament directors Carlos Perea and Jorge Gabino hosted the First Annual Tolleson B Doubles Invitational at Tolleson High School, featuring sixteen teams on the first Saturday in 2025.
Icebreaker Superfan Tony Hernandez and the Race 4 Eight’s youngest pro Ayden Brule made the 124-mile drive west from Tucson to Tolleson to stun Tolleson’s best, coming from the loser’s bracket to defeat Erick Chavarría and Ronnie Hopkins in consecutive finals matches, the second match in a tiebreaker.
“Ayden and I came back to avenge our loss to Ronnie and Erick (from earlier in the tournament), who were heavy favorites to win the tourney,” stated Hernandez.
Final: Hernandez/Brule def Team Chavarría/Hopkins (consecutively)
Thank you to tournament directors Carlos Perea and Jorge Gabino for an outstanding event.
