David Velez Nabs the 2022 King of the Courts

WPH Press, Jamaica, NY, 7/27/22

The St. Albans Handball Association presented the 2022 King of the Courts at Joseph Austin Playground in Jamaica, NY, featuring 113 of the best men’s big ball singles players at one of the summer’s premiere events.

David Velez advanced to the final by saving match point in his quarterfinal win against Gio Vazquez and overcoming Miguel “Miggz” Mendez in the semifinal.

Joshua Garcia ousted 1-Wall legend Tywan Cook in the opposite side of the bracket quarterfinal but was unable to overcome Nazir “Naz” Marsto in the semifinal, as Naz advanced to the final.

Velez earned his first major singles title in the final, defeating Naz for the prestigious King of the Court title. “David was nervous being in his first final but he was able to pull the win out,” stated four-time King of the Courts champion Timbo Gonzalez.
