JR WPH Highlighting Race 4 Eight Pros Giving Back to the Game: Abraham Montijo and the FLF Coaches
JR WPH Press, Tucson, AZ, 7/20/22
The Fred Lewis Foundation led Tucson Kidco summer camp program organized an end of summer camp tournament between the Freedom Park camp, Udall Park camp, Randolph Park camp, and Old Pueblo camp at Udall Park on Tucson’s east side.
The youngsters were treated to not only multiple games of handball in the tournament, but trophies, a media room with catered lunch, corn hole, prizes, and a large projector showing pro handball matches.
The atmosphere at Udall Park’s three handball courts resembled the collegiate nationals, with kids enthusiastically cheering for their teammates, all with the hope of winning the trophy for best Tucson camp.
“Handball is a game and it is meant to be fun, win or lose,” instructed Fred Lewis Foundation Executive Director and Head Coach Abraham Montijo to the 50 junior players participating in the Kidco event. “Regardless of who wins the match, you go and shake hands with your opponent.”
“This is definitely the most fun event that we run,” stated FLF coach and player Belisa Camacho. “We have 50 players but we would have had even more if so many kids were not on vacation this week.”
Thank you to Abraham Montijo and his dedicated group of FLF coaches for inspiring so many kids at the Kidco tournament.
