Juarez, MEX, 3/8/26

Leo Canales, Sr. proudly sponsored the 2026 Leo Canales, Sr. Juarez Open at the Campestre Juarez Country Club in Juarez, Mexico, with Luis Cordova, Sr. serving as the tournament host and director.

Men’s Pro Singles

Top-seeded Leo Canales stormed to the final in the Men’s Pro Singles, steamrolling his three opponents in the upper bracket en route to the final by a combined score of 90-19, including a two-game sweep against Danos Cordova in the semifinals.

Third-seeded Sean Lenning survived an overtime game in the second game of his quarterfinal against Andres Cordova and rallied from a one-game deficit to defeat second-seeded Ivan Burgos in the bottom bracket semifinal to meet Canales in the final.

Canales was seeking his first 4-Wall win against Lenning in the final and gained the advantage, taking the first game in overtime. With the one-game advantage, Canales closed out the match in the second, proudly taking the tournament named after his father.

“I think we both played well, Canales would later say. “I was serving well and shooting well. Winning this tournament is special, not just because it was in honor of my dad, but being able to win in front of my family and the Juarez handball community.”
