Albany, NY, WPH Press, 11/24/24
The Albany Open returned for its fiftieth edition on the weekend before Thanksgiving at the Colonie Court Club in New York’s State Capital. The Albany Open has historically been one of the biggest events in the Northeast, hosting the game’s best in the Northeast, in addition to skill level and age division players in the pre-Thanksgiving bash.
Tyree Bastidas retained his undisputed status as the top indoor and outdoor player in the Northeast, defeating Canada’s Jerome Santerre in the Men’s Open Singles final. “Tyree was just too strong for Jerome in the final,” stated WPH correspondent and handball ambassador Jared Vale.
Victor Lopierre and Arthur Sayed captured the Men’s Open Doubles, defeating Steven Woo and Max Chiang in the final.
“The tournament went well,” stated Vale.” The age groups were all exciting.”
Thank you to tournament directors John Bossung, Jr. and Amanda Bryan for an outstanding tournament and great hospitality throughout the weekend.
Thank you to Jared Vale for the pictures and updates from Albany.
