Spokane, WA, WPH Press, 11/9/25
The Spokane Club was thrilled to present the 58th Annual Lilac Tournament at one of the country’s most historic venues, featuring men’s small ball 4-Wall open, skill level, and age bracket singles and doubles and women’s 4-Wall small ball singles.
Men’s Open Singles
The 2025 Lilac Open Singles featured three 11-10 tiebreakers in the upper bracket and two tiebreakers in the bottom bracket. Top-seeded Rob Bell was upset in the quarterfinals by Chris Cardinal in one of the 11-10 tiebreakers. Cardinal became an 11-10 victim in the upper bracket semifinals, losing to Washinton’s Michael Ewing.
Second-seeded Andy Romanchock survived an 11-9 semifinal against multiple-time Masters national champion and former pro Chris Tico.
Romanchock would prevent a tiebreaker in the final, defeating Ewing to take the Lilac.
Semifinals
Ewing def Cardinal 21-18, 7-21, 11-10
Romanchock def Tico 21-15, 18-21, 11-9
Final: Romanchock def Ewing 21-8, 21-15
A Singles
The ageless Tracy Davis continues to play great handball, dominating the Lilac’s A singles.
Final: Tracy Davis def Steve Kennedy 21-12, 21-13
Players were treated to outstanding hospitality throughout the event, in addition to tournament swag. The Alten Foundation generously sponsored all students and players under the age of 21.
Thank you to tournament director Russ Akerhielm for hosting a great event at the Spokane Club.
