2024 Play for the Cure Speaker’s Cup

WPH Press, Coney Island, NY, 7/28/24

The Inner City Handball Association and the New York Parks Department proudly presented the 29th Annual Speaker’s Cup Tournament in memory of handball icon Jim Jacobs at the famed Central Park handball courts in Manhattan featuring 127 players.

The Speaker’s Cup has traditionally been one of the premiere 1-Wall small ball events in the world and 2024 was no exception, as many of the world’s best small ball 1-Wall players converged at Central Park, to include the Bastidas brothers, Saul Gonzalez, Sheikh Hossain, Eric Lee and many more.

Men’s Open Singles

1-Wall’s Bash Brothers dominated their respective half of the draws to meet in the final, with Tyree defeating Eric Lee in the upper bracket semifinals and Jurell defeating Sheikh Hossain in the bottom bracket semifinals.

Tyree was too strong for his brother in the final, serving and shooting his way to the 2024 Speaker’s Cup.
