2019 PNW Regionals: Townsend Stuns Beall

Portland, OR, WPH Press, 5/5/19- Portland’s Multnomah Athletic Club played host to the 2019 Pacific Northwest Regionals, featuring the Pacific Northwest’s top stars competing at one of the best handball facilities in the country.

Oregon sensation Dalton Beall has made the Multnomah Athletic Club his personal stomping grounds for the past decade, racking up numerous state and regional titles on the famed MAC courts.

Beall advanced to the Men’s Open singles final with tiebreaker wins against Ryan Grossenbacher and Matt Steele, an indication that his three-year undefeated Oregon run could be in jeopardy.

Cody Townsend cruised to the final in the bottom bracket without dropping a game, dumping fiction novel cover model and former high school pro football standout Kyle English in the quarterfinals and WPH ambassador Stephen Stenberg in the semifinals.

Townsend has found himself on the wrong end of the Beall Train for many years but would not be denied on the first Sunday in May, trouncing his frequent adversary in two games for the PNW title.

Semifinals

Beall def Steele 4-21, 21-17, 11-7

Townsend def S. Stenberg 21-14, 21-19

Final: Townsend def Beall 21-7, 21-14
