The WPH Wraps Up 2017 With Year-End Awards!

Tucson, AZ, WPH Press, 12/26/ 17- Thanks to the commitment of our coaches, donors, volunteers, players, and staff, the WPH enjoyed a wildly successful 2017, complete with incredible individual accomplishments, exciting rivalries, sensational junior clinics and programs led by outstanding coaches, and a number of host cities and tournament directors organizing exceptional events. The 2017 WPH handball season was dedicated to David Chapman, one of handball’s greatest champions, coaches, and friend to so many in our great game.

The WPH committee convened for the WPH year-ending awards and here are your winners:

·      JR WPH Collegiate Coach of the Year: Coach Mike Morgan (UWF)

·      JR WPH Junior Coach of the Year: Coach Richie “Drft” Fernandez (JR WPH Juarez)

·      WPH Volunteer of the Year: “Ms. Vee” Veronica Figueroa. Read about Ms. Vee honored here

·      WPH Men’s Player of the Year: Killian Carroll

·      WPH Women’s Player of the Year: Martina McMahon

·      Outdoor Cross Over Player of the Year: Timbo Gonzalez. Read more here

·      City that hosted the most WPH events: Pittsburgh, PA (4), Tucson, AZ (4)

·      WPH tournament director of the year: Mike Semplice (Pittsburgh, PA)

·      Most men’s WPH titles: Killian Carroll (5 R48 titles)

·      Most women’s WPH titles: Catriona Casey (2 WR48 titles), Martina McMahon (1 WR48 title, 1 Women’s WPH Outdoor title)

·      Largest JR WPH Clinic: 105 junior players at the JR WPH NYC Shootout. Read more here
