Houston, TX, WPH Press, 6/11/18– The World Players of Handball and the Houston Handball Club are thrilled to host the Houston R48LTE/Southwest Doubles Regionals, March 8-10, 2019 at the Tellepsen Family Downtown YMCA, located at 808 Pease St., Houston, TX 77002.
The R48 will be staged in Houston for the seventh consecutive year, while the Southwest Regional Doubles will be held in conjunction with the ’19 Houston R48LTE, featuring Open Doubles, Women’s Doubles, B Doubles, 100 Doubles, 120 Doubles, and 140 Doubles. Age division doubles require the combined ages of the teammates to meet the minimum age requirement, with the youngest teammate to be under 10 years maximum for each bracket ie the youngest a player can be in the 100 Doubles in 40.
The “R48LTE” is a R48 “Light” event, with half of the R48 ranking points as a traditional R48 event and nearly half the prize money. While half the R48 ranking points and prize money are available at R48 LTE event, all of the R48 excitement remains, as the best professional handball players in the world will be vying for valuable ranking points and momentum heading into the final stretch of the 2018/19 R48 8 season.
R48 #1 Killian Carroll clinched R48 titles in Houston in 2017 and 2018, part of his complete domination of the sport in the past two seasons. Can anyone stop “Flash” in Space City in 2019? Expect many of the game’s best to be competing at the Tellepsen Family Downtown YMCA March 8-10, 2019, including Texas handball stars Adam Bernhard and Memo Pallares. Joining the top pros in Houston will be the Southwest’s best skill level and age group players vying for Southwest Regional doubles titles.
“We are so excited to be returning to Houston for the seventh consecutive year,” stated R48LTE co-administrator and R48 Elite 8 pro David Fink. “The Houston Handball Club treats the players so well, from endless hospitality to the best courts on the tour. We can’t wait for another great event in H Town!”
